6th & 7th GRADE LAW
6th/7th Grade Law is the beginning of your legal journey at Nova. Nova Middle offers 6th Grade Law, 7th Grade Law, Advanced 7th Grade Law, 8th Grade Law, and Competition Law. Students who continue into high school can take law courses in grades 9–12 through Nova High's prestigious Cambridge Law Program.
Whether or not you plan to become a lawyer, studying law teaches skills that are valuable in every career—including public speaking, critical thinking, writing, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving. Best of all, law classes are active, challenging, and fun.
In 6th/7th Grade Law, you'll learn the foundations of the American legal system, develop courtroom skills, participate in mock trials, and prepare for the Nova Middle Bar Exam. Students who pass the exam become official members of the Nova Middle Bar and are invited to a special swearing-in ceremony where they take an oath before judges and other legal professionals. (Yes—there's food, too!) After becoming Nova attorneys, students may represent clients and witnesses in Nova's mock trial program and become eligible to participate in a variety of law-related competitions.
Passing the Nova Middle Bar Exam also opens the door to advanced opportunities. 6th-grade students who pass may enroll in Advanced 7th Grade Law, while 7th-grade students who pass become eligible for 8th Grade Law.
Students who pass the Bar Exam and consistently demonstrate outstanding ethics, reliability, teamwork, legal knowledge, writing ability, and courtroom skills may be invited to join Competition Law, Nova's elite competitive program, during their 7th- or 8th-grade year.
